Sherod Flono was a loving and caring son, brother, dedicated father, friend, uncle and husband. He led a passionate and purpose-filled life that leaves a legacy of inspiration for all who knew him. Sherod had a tenacious passion for education and especially children in under-served areas receiving an education on par with more affluent children to allow them to compete in the global economy. His true passion turned out to be in the IT field specifically in computer programming, a field in which he not only excelled but was right up until the end highly sought after.
To honor his passion for programming and his concern for under-served children receiving highly rigorous enriching education we have started the Sherod Flono coding & STEAM grant. Through our organization Mental Fitness 21st Century Learning Inc. we will raise funds yearly to teach students in various grades the basics of computer coding and STEAM education to prepare them to be successful in the 21st Century economy.
If you feel that Sherod was on to something, help us to get started!
Currently we are able to provide a 50% scholarship for our summer STEAM camp to 5 deserving students for the full 8 weeks. Sherod would be extremely proud! The students will be learning web design and finish the camp with a full and operational website that they have completed themselves.
